I would like to welcome you to our new website. This website shortly presents the activities and the courses of MPSOTC. Our Center is a PfP Training Centre recognized by NATO SG with the name “PfP Training Centre in Greece'' in 2000. Additionally, is also recognized by UN for the conduct of the UN Military Observers Course.
Up to now the Center carried out a series of important activities including national, international courses, seminars and also mobile training teams.
MPSOTC’s primary mission is to provide academic and field training on the specialized field of PSOs, to National and Multinational personnel in accordance with the most current international accepted standards.
Additionally, to support the pre-deployment “mission-specific” training of national contingents, which are tasked to participate in PSOs.
To brief and educate the Staff Elements and Military Observers before mission assignment.
With highly professional lectures, realistic field training and appropriate administrative and logistics support our center aims at high professionalism to meet the students’ expectations. All the above are intended, among others, to contribute to NATO’s implementation efforts through training activities.
Greece has a long tradition in Peace Support Operations since 1950 when the first battalion was deployed in Korea under the UN flag but going back , 2.600 years ago, we found the statement that Greek philosopher Plato made about ‘’Peace and War’’ among the city states in the Known world at his time:
“What most people name Peace, is only a word. In fact, it is normal that cities are always engaged in an undeclared war against each other’’. (Plato, 626 BC)”.
He found this was a normal phenomenon. I am sure that you will agree that he prophesized the contemporary wars and disputes between nations or even cultures we see today, in this very same world. Considering all the above, it is our pleasure to welcome you in one of our future courses which are definitely contribute to your efforts to meet the tomorrow’s challenges in PSO’s areas.
